TEEN, short for TEMPA TEEN was the world’s first family-friendly Tempa T tribute act, in which he would perform expletive-free renditions of ‘Next Hype’ and request each audience member donate a CD upon entry, only to end on a grande finally in which he would quite literally, give everyone ‘their CDs back’. However, after a lengthy legal battle with Tim Westwood and Tempz’s management, label and publisher (all of which, Tim Westwood), TEMPA TEEN was forced to stop his tribute act and change his name. :(
During this dark time, TEEN would lock himself in his bedroom for months and play ‘Next Hype’ over and over again until he cried himself to sleep. But one day, this all changed…. In the middle of the night, he woke up to the sound of his over-played Tempa T album skipping, on a constant horrible, out of time loop.
And that was when it hit him…This annoying digital glitch sound was the second most beautiful thing he’d ever heard in his life (the first obviously being ‘Next Hype’ by Tempa T), and so he decided to start making original music with a view to replicate this sound… and lo and behold, the debut TEEN EP was born! But wait, can this grime-obsessed introvert really take ALL the credit for this insanely banging EP?? Of course not. This is the music biz after all and we all know that no true talent can ever exist without a cool as fuck label run by two absolute legends and a shit tonne of nepotism to present it to the world.. so big up to us, the REAL brains behind this operation..ILLEGAL DATA!
Having (never) played with the likes of Arca, Sophie and Oneohtrix Point Never, with tracks (never heard or) played out from DJs like Apex Twin, Ben UFO and like Four Tet or Caribou or one of them, this fine Bristol (#banksy #trip-hop) lad has CLEARLY already gotten approval from the #scene. So what the hell are you waiting for? Listen and download and share and like and write about this release til yr heart’s content, or at least until Aphex Twin actually replies to our emails. On that note, anyone got a contact for Apex Twin?

Ok ok ok, time 2 b genuine for a sec..
For reals though if you want a more sensible (boring) press release I’m sure we could come up with some fun and less cheeky ways to say THIS SLAPS! For example..’Beauty and truth reveal themselves through art and struggle’ and boy can we tell you TEEN has struggled (to stop making such sick tracks) and we’ve all struggled to stop listening to this release EVERY DAY.
With a remix Emily Glass also on the way, plus a video for ‘Cache’ from xxxtreme visual-nerd Studio Dosage (Dua Lipa, JGrrey etc). We feel giddy and humbled to be helping TEEN present his creative vision to the big bad world.
